Why Pre-book

We are all very happy to see that the budget airlines have made flying more affordable. But what about parking, the price for parking at the airport is still very expensive base on who you book from, many times you find flights that often cost less than  your car park charges specially when you have to fly in hurry and did not pre book your parking.

How to save your wallet from this? how about checking prices while planning your travel, some times an urgent airport car park booking can show you wide variation up to a five fold difference (for the same amount of time at the same airport) and that's because of supply and demand, the closer you get to your date of travel the more expensive the parking charges become.

As a classic example, you may end up paying maximum at the rush hour, if you appear at the last minute at Heathrow but also at any airport, racing to catch a flight and having to leave the car in short stay parking.

If you pre-book at Gatwick, there are eight grades of parking within the airport, each with different pricing structure. There are also differences between airports. The short stay at Southampton is a third of the price of Heathrow. Birmingham is cheaper than Stansted.
You decide - Short stay or long stay: I would vote for short stay, though these are twice or three times the price of long stay, but parking is usually within walking distance of the airport terminal, and mind it ... they are deadly expensive.

If you are only away for the weekend, the short stay car park could be worth the expense, but for any longer it will eat into your budget or wallet. If you are away for a fortnight, the difference between short and long stay at Stansted would be £189.

At Stansted, the Average rate for the short stay is £21.50 per day. The long stay daily rate is £7.80. So there is a £13.50 additional daily fee for the short stay. If you're in two minds, there is also a mid-stay option, charging £13.40 a day.
