Edinburgh airport is located 12km from the centre of Edinburgh, central Scotland. It is within easy access of Fife, Tayside and Aberdeenshire, and the Borders. The airport began its life as an aerodrome during the first world war, and was later converted into the RAF Turnhouse for the Royal Flying Corps in 1915. In 1947 the first Edinburgh to London shuttle service was run. The airport was later bought by BAA in 1971 and six years later it was officially opened as Edinburgh airport . 2003 saw 7.5 million passengers passs through its gates and a massive 108,000 aircraft movements. The airport underwent considerable renovations in 2001 and further expansions are proposed.

Short Stay
The short stay car park is within easy walking distance of the terminal building and is ideal for stays up to a few hours and dropping off and collecting passengers. There is also a short stay multi-storey car park right opposite the terminal building offering 2000 spaces.
Prices start at £1.30 for up to half an hour.
Long Stay Parking
Edinburgh airport offers one on-airport long stay car park and several off-airport car parks which all have regular courtesy shuttle buses running to and from the terminal. It is recommended that you book long stay parking in advance and that extra time is allowed for transfers.

Valet Parking
For those not wishing to transfer from the car park to the terminal, valet parking is a great option. A chauffeur will meet you at your departure terminal and transfer your car for you to a secure compound. You are then left free to check in with plenty of time and on your return your car will be delivered to you at the terminal.
